Information om Alaska

As some of you may know: Alaska is the northern and biggest state in the US. There live around 700.000 people on an area over twice as big as Texas (which is the second largest state of the US).
An illustration, that shows the size of Alaska compared to the rest of the US. It's about 600.000 sq miles (1.500.000 sq km) and the coastline exstends over 47.000 miles.
The capital is Jenau - situated in the southeast - with 30.000 people.
The biggest city is Anchorage - situated in the southcentral - with a little over 225.000 people.
The second largest city is Fairbanks - situated in the interior (middle) - with a little over 32.000.

The climate is really different, depending on where you are: if you're near the coast the temperatures will be more constant, compared to the interior like Fairbanks, where there are hotter summers and cooler winters.
  • State Motto: North to the Future
  • Nicknames: "The Last Frontier" or "Land of the Midnight Sun" or "Seward's Icebox"
  • State song: "Alaskas flag'
  • State sport: Dogsledding, dogmushing or dog sled racing - all are correct.
98% of all the Brown Bears in the US live in Alaska. There's so much life and such beautiful landscapes!
There's a chance of seeing the northern light (aurora borealis) from september to april.
